P.O.°W.E.R. Program
The P.O.°W.E.R. Program is designed to provide accessible and adapted recreational opportunities to students, faculty, and staff at Old Dominion University.
Instruction
P.O.°W.E.R. instructors are second year physical therapy students or upper class therapeutic recreation students, who are experienced in planning and implementing adaptive exercise programs for special health conditions (heart disease, osteoporoses, arthritis, diabetes), physical and sensory limitations, post-rehabilitation, and other individual concerns or requests.
Participants are evaluated and individualized fitness programs are designed based on the initial assessment. Instructors provide assistance, supervision, and progression of exercise sessions for each participant. A medical clearance from a doctor is required for participation and can be accessed here.
Questions concerning the program or your eligibility should be addressed to Lee Graves at lgraves@odu.edu or 683-3384.
