Clarissa Brown Sophomore Major: Elementary Education Pre K- 6
Hometown: Newport News, Virginia I am Historian of the Student Virginia Education Association (If you are interested in teaching this is an excellent club for you!) and a Monarch Maniac.I enjoy meeting and being around people. I love to laugh and have a good time. I am very outgoing, independent, dependable and giving. I also enjoy being outdoors. By choosing to attend Old Dominion University you are already off to a great start. While attending make sure you get involved with the activities and clubs on campus. As an incoming freshamn I attended FSI and I really enjoyed myself. In doing this I was able to meet new people, keep in contact with them and establish many great friendships. I wish you all the best of luck in your future endeavors! |

Being chosen as one of the FSI counselors out of many remarkable students who applied gives me an opportunity to share my college experiences, and many life lessons learned. ODU's FSI has so much to offer to both incoming freshmen and counselors.. It's a pleasure to be part of this event and I can't wait to meet and welcome our outstanding freshmen for the school year 2008 to 2009!! |

FSI is a great opportunity for you to get a head start on meeting new people and getting better acquainted with ODU and the campus! Be prepared to try new things, meet new friends, and have a fun time. One piece of advice I can give about the college experience is to get involved! There are so many clubs and activities available to you, finding one you personally enjoy will not be hard! There are so many clubs and activities always going on and all of them are lots of fun to get involved in. I am a resident assistant (RA) here at ODU. I am also a part of the Honor's College, Phi Eta Sigma, and Golden Key. I didn't get involved on campus until later in college. Once I did get involved my college experience changed completely! I met and worked with people from all different backgrounds and cultures. I felt more a part of ODU because I knew I was making a difference by getting involved. FSI gives incoming freshman an opportunity to become familiar with ODU's campus and make friends before even setting foot in a classroom! I'm so excited to meet you all and see your leadership abilities grow! |

"I chose to be an FSI counselor because I wanted to take part in welcoming so many new students with so much potential to ODU. I thought I could play a part in cracking shells and opening minds to new possibilities. I want to make the transition for others easier than my own, and I want to give back to the school at least SOME of what it's given me." |
