Community Service
Alternative Breaks

The Alternative Breaks program at ODU provides students with opportunities to spend their spring break or a long weekend providing service to others outside of our local community. Through this program, students are given a unique opportunity to travel and immerse themselves in a community to gain perspective on societal issues that would be difficult to replicate on campus. While completing short-term service projects students will be able to experience and reflect on issues such as poverty, the environment, homelessness, literacy, and animal rescue/rights. If you are interested in organizing or participating in an Alternative Break trip, please contact the Center for Service & Civic Engagement.
Alternative Break Council
Would you like to assist the Center for Service & Civic Engagement in selecting, organizing and recruiting for all Alternative Break trips at ODU? If so, then considering joining the Alternative Break Council. Members of the Council will also have the opportunity to attend trips free of charge by serving as Site Leaders.
