Emily Martin
Graduate Assistant, Community Service
E-mail: emartin@odu.edu
Hi there, I’m Emily Martin the Graduate Assistant for Service! I’m from the tiny town of Broadway, VA and a recent graduate of James Madison University with a B.S. in psychology. I am here at ODU to pursue my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I promise not to analyze you if you come by my office! My role as GA for Service is to enhance your educational experience beyond the boundaries of the classroom through service learning opportunities. Service learning allows you, the ODU student, to gain a deeper understanding of relevant societal issues affecting the community at large. I firmly believe that at ODU, we are all responsible for the well-being of our campus, neighboring communities, and the global community. By participating in service projects you will gain the skills necessary to facilitate change. Volunteering has been a rewarding experience for me over the years. Not only do I feel that I’ve made an impact, but service experiences have impacted me. I hope you will take advantage of all the opportunities the Center for Service and Civic Engagement has coordinated for you. Volunteer, and Make your Mark!

Ann Reightler
Graduate Assistant, Fraternity & Sorority Life
E-mail: areightl@odu.edu
Hello Monarchs! I am Ann Reightler the Graduate Assistant for Fraternity and Sorority Life at Old Dominion University. While at ODU, I will be pursuing a master’s degree in Higher Education with a concentration in Student Affairs. I am very excited for the year ahead and know it is a wonderful time to be a part of the Greek community at ODU. Deciding to go Greek was one of the absolute best decisions I made and I would like to ensure other Greek members have a rewarding and positive experience. Some of my favorite things about being Greek are creating lifelong friendships and also knowing that I share a special bond with hundreds of other women who share the same values and ritual as I do. Remember, it’s not four years, it’s for life! Go Greek!

Joshua Darr
Program Assistant, Administrative
E-mail: jdarr@odu.edu
Hello, hello! I'm from Spotsylvania, VA; a place I like to call the middle of nowhere, but ODU has become my second home! I'm starting into my senior year and will be graduating in May 2013. I like to say I am a jack of all trades with my involvement at ODU from being an RA, a Brother of Sigma Nu, serving on the Homecoming Board for the fourth year, and everything in between. Oh and I didn’t forget, Program Assistant for OSAL. Balancing the commitments and personal life just adds to all the fun. Once the school year starts, you'll most likely run into me at Webb Center doing something related to ODU. Stop by the office and let us know how we can help! |

Christian Platon
Program Assistant, Marketing and Design
E-mail: cplaton@odu.edu
Hey! What’s up, everyone! My Name is Christian Platon, and I am currently a senior here at ODU. I believe in functional art and design. As a graphic design major with a minor in civil engineering, I have been trained to create and appreciate design while also grasping the realistic need for function. I understand a client’s desire for a design not only to be beautiful, but to also achieve an objective. I am innovative, current, and diverse. A student hungry to learn and grow, I take knowledge from all of my experiences to make me, as a graphic artist, like my work: creative yet functional.
