International Student Handbook
This may be the first time you have lived in a culture different from the one in which you were raised, or you might be an accomplished world traveler. Either way, here are some generalizations about the culture in the United States. Please keep in mind that the U.S. is a very diverse nation, and culture varies depending on the region of the country someone is from, the socio-economic status of the family, religion, etc. As always, patience and understanding will help as you adjust to this new culture.
A brief note: the term "Americans" as used in this country refers to people living in the U.S., even though we are not the only people living on the North American continent.
