University Village Closing & Extension Information
Extension Guidelines
When a current resident's current contract ends on July 31, 2009 and their new contract to their current space does not begin until August 15, 2009, they may apply for what is called an extension, in which the resident may pay to have their belongings/ or opt to stay until their new contract begins.
Only residents in Buildings 5-10 are eligible for an extension.
Only residents returning to the same room for the 2009-10 contract period are eligible for an extension.
There are no partial extensions. The official period is July 31 - August 14, 2009.
The deadline to apply for an extension is June 31, 2009. Information in regards to extensions will be emailed to eligible residents the week of April 20, 2009. If you are eligible to receive an extension and do not receive an email giving you the opportunity to apply for an extension, please contact Tommy Cullinan (tcullina@odu.edu), University Village Hall Director.
If you don't apply for an extension, you must completely vacate your apartment by July 31, 2009.
If you fail to move out, you will be charged the full amount of an extension.
Please keep an eye on our website, www.odu.edu/housing, for updates in regards to the cost of an extension.
During the extension period, you must keep all common areas of your apartment clean so as to best accommodate any potential new roommates. This includes your bathroom, kitchen, and living room.
Closing Meetings
So that University Village residents will have an opportunity to be appropriately informed of closing procedures, the following meeting dates/times have been established. These meetings will also afford residents the opportunity to ask questions. All meetings will be held in the Community Room of Building 3 (Newport News).

Monday, April 27, 2009 @ 8:00pm
Tuesday, April 28, 2009 @ 6:00pm
