"Included Laundry" comes to ODU

Starting this fall, Old Dominion University is providing benefit to on-campus students of an easier, cheaper way to do laundry. An inclusive laundry charge of $30 is automatically added to student's accounts, at the beginning of each semester, providing students with a value of $75 in laundry usage. Many colleges and universities operate their laundry programs similarly and more colleges are switching to this program including George Mason University and Virginia Wesleyan College. Students at other colleges love it!

ODU residents will be given "60 starts" each semester on their ODU ID card, which is enough for 30 loads of laundry (1 wash + 1 dry = 1 load). If additional "starts" are needed, they can be purchased with Monarch Plus.  Monarch Plus funds can be deposited at the University Card Center, located in the Webb Center, or online at www.odu.edu/cardcenter. The "starts" can be carried over from fall to spring semester.

Just some of the advantages of the "Included Laundry Program":

  • Students don't have to search for quarters
  • Enough swipes for Students to do laundry properly (i.e. sorting and separating, just like Mom)
  • No need to overload the laundry equipment
  • Parents have the peace of mind of a simple on-campus laundry solution for their student
  • Positive student response to easy access of laundry equipment on campus
  • Another incentive for students to stay on campus during the weekend
