Whitehurst Hall
Whitehurst Hall, overlooking the Elizabeth River, is a big draw for sports-and health-minded students. It is adjacent to Old Dominion University's sailing center, providing quite a sight as members of the All-American sailing team jibe and tack along the waterway with white sails billowing.
Directly behind the hall is a two-net volleyball sand pit, a gazebo, and a wooden boardwalk and pier. Whitehurst is a quick jog to the main campus.
Whitehurst, an Academic Year Option-open during breaks and holidays, was constructed in 1983 and consists of two six-story towers housing 594 freshmen residents. Students choose from among coed or single-sex suites. Located within Whitehurst are study lounges, laundry rooms, a convenience store and a dining center. Each room accommodates two residents and is fully furnished with bunkable beds, desks, chairs, book shelves, dressers, trash cans and sink vanity.
Residents living in Whitehurst Hall are required to be on a meal plan. Please visit the Card Center's website for an explanation of all meal plans.
