Requesting Maintenance
Each residence hall and apartment complex has a full maintenance and housekeeping staff. If an item in your room/apartment requires repair or maintenance, you may call in a maintenance request on the FIXIT line (683-4948) 24-hours a day, or e-mail us at fixit@odu.edu.
Maintenance requests received by FIXIT will generally be handled the day they are received or the following workday, only between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., during the week. Requests made after hours will be collected on voice mail and addressed by the maintenance staff the following workday. E-mail messages will be retrieved at the beginning of each workday.
In all Student Housing facilities, the Housekeeping staff will clean and vacuum lounge floors and common areas daily. You are expected to keep your own room/apartment and bath area clean and safe, and you must pick up your personal belongings when you leave public areas. Cleaning supplies and vacuum cleaners can be checked out at your reception desk.
The University does not assume liability for personal property damage or loss of items from your room or apartment. It would be to your advantage to make sure your belongings are covered under your parents' insurance policy or to purchase a special renters' policy.
