Greetings ODU Students!

Welcome to the Old Dominion University community. As an incoming student, you will receive monthly emails with important administrative information as well as resources to prepare you for your upcoming semester at ODU.

Housing

Haven't heard about your housing application yet? The Office of Housing and Residence Life communicates with you through your ODU email account. If you haven't activated your account, go to midas.odu.edu and take action today!

Applications for housing are still being accepted. Students are encouraged to submit applications as soon as possible. To apply, go to studentaffairs.odu.edu/housing/firstyear.

What's Next?

After you submit your application and $150 pre-payment, the next step in the housing process is to submit your room, meal plan, and roommate matching preferences. In mid-May, you will receive an email from the Office of Housing and Residence Life asking you to do just that! You will be asked to complete a brief questionnaire to help match you with a roommate. So start thinking about what kind of roommate preferences you may have so that when you receive the questionnaire you'll have no trouble filling it out.

For Student Computer Purchases, the Order Site Opens May 1

The time has arrived to place your order for your notebook computer. Buy a preconfigured Lenovo ThinkPad or an Apple MacBook designed to work with the ODU information technology. Orders placed by July 30 are guaranteed for delivery before classes begin. To order your new notebook, go to occs.odu.edu/mobilemonarch/ordering.shtml

For Your Other Technology Needs, Try the Monarch Techstore

Right on the ODU campus, the Monarch Techstore, is the place for your hardware and software needs. You can save on software, peripherals, and other computer supplies. Our current partners include Lenovo and Apple. For more information, contact techstore@odu.edu.

Dining Services

You've got enough to worry about on campus: classes, studying, work and extracurricular activities. You shouldn't have to stress about eating too. Having a meal plan lets you grab a meal with your friends, when you want it and where you want it. We have a variety of meal plans that fit into your schedule and provide an assortment of high quality choices, with all the types of food you like.

There are currently 15 dining locations on campus, including national brands like Chick-fil-A, Starbucks, Pizza Hut, and Quiznos. We also have 3 all-you-care-to eat dining facilities on campus that feature menu items ranging from home-style meals to international cuisine to made-to-order deli sandwiches.
