 OLD DOMINION UNIVERSITY'S
 LEGAL RESOURCE CENTER

The Legal Resource Center is a Student Government Association sponsored program which is geared towards empowering the Old Dominion University community with up to date legal news and information.  The LRC is also committed to empowering the student body with services as it relates to their legal questions and needs.  The best part is that this service is open to all students, faculty and staff and is FREE.

SERVICES

The LRC is complete with legal resources for those who are seeking to perform their own research in regards to the most common legal problems.  The LRC has a library of publications and books which provide self-help and step-by-step guides to performing common legal tasks. Examples of some of the publication topics are: Child Support in Virginia; Divorce and Child Custody Issues; Consumer issues; Bankruptcy Law; Landlord Tenant Laws; and Defending a Criminal Case.

The LRC has contracted with an outside attorney to address specific issues and questions prompted by the students.  This year the LRC has contracted with Attorney Charlene A. Morring. Mrs. Morring is a Virginia Attorney whose practice is located in Downtown Norfolk.  An Old Dominion Alumna, Mrs. Morring is a Kaufman Scholar and active community leader. She is available to answer any general questions on an appointment basis.  Representation is not permitted between the LRC attorney and the student body.  However, the LRC will be able to provide referrals to an attorney who can address your specific needs.

Even if you do not need the services of an attorney, you can still benefit from the LRC Power Lunch Series.  The Power Lunch Series is sponsored by the LRC and is open to the public, faculty and staff during the student academic calendar year.  Held once a month, the Power Lunch Series focuses on educating the campus community through the presentation of mini-seminars. Speakers from across Virginia will visit the campus during activity hour to speak on topics ranging from Bankruptcy, Identity Theft and Tenant Law. The Power Lunches are FREE and lunch is provided.

Everyone should visit the LRC Center and review its many legal resources.  The power of legal information will equip you to handle your legal affairs efficiently.  In addition, the LRC provides up-to-date legal news and information which will enhance the campus' ability to thrive in today's ever changing legal environment.

Come out and visit the Legal Resource Center.  The LRC is located at 2118 Webb Center. Center hours are posted and meeting with the attorney can be arranged on an appointment basis. We look forward to seeing you.
